Project Description
The St Kilda House was an exciting challenge to JRSconsult with the client's brief seeking to seamlessly combine a beautiful existing Victorian Style home with a modern outdoor entertainment area. Extending the rear of the home however impacted heavily on natural light penetration to rear internal living areas including the main living room and kitchen. After analysing the exact times in the day when sunlight entered these rooms and directions at which they entered, JRSconsult created a design that, through skylights and highlight windows, would allow existing light conditions to remain unchanged.
Double glazed skylights along the west roof gable also help to regulate the heat within the outdoor entertainment space all year round and a large openable louvre system along the east roof gable increases natural light and cross ventilation.
